October Meeting - Andrew Gillum10/20/2017 - Skopelo's at New World

Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. and program begins at 12:00 p.m.

Andrew Gillum wants to rebuild Florida into a state where every child has opportunity.

Andrew’s dad was a construction worker and his mom drove a bus. At times, his family struggled to make ends meet. He owes his success to a good public education and people who believed in him. Andrew is running to make sure that every Floridian has the chance to succeed - and that means access to a quality education, affordable healthcare, and a good-paying job to support their family. He wants to protect Floridians with a pre-existing condition from discrimination, or being charged more for care because of their gender. That’s the kind of state we can all be proud of.

Under Andrew’s leadership as Mayor of Tallahassee:

  •  Worked with President Obama’s White House to train workers for good-paying jobs that provide a path to the middle class
  • Called for a focus on early childhood education, investing in public schools and increasing teachers’ wages
  • Opposed the Trump healthcare scheme that would raise taxes on seniors
  • Defended a woman’s right to choose against Governor Scott’s attempt to defund Planned Parenthood
  • Championed action on climate change and broke ground on a new, 20 acre solar farm that will make Tallahassee the leader in municipal solar energy production in Florida

Mayor Gillum is now running for Governor because we need a fresh approach to solving the problems of our state and get our government back on track. He lives with his wife R. Jai and their three children in Tallahassee.
